Price control as a means to provide universal service is being practiced for thousands of years. Be it food grain, services or fuel, the idea is to provide relief to the poorer section of the society. In time of famine, the good kings opened their food stock and almost gave it away. The kings used price control to secure their throne and the politicians as a way to entice the voters at the expense of national exchequer. full report

Chernobyl catastrophe in 1986 in USSR and then the Three Mile Island near disaster in 1997 in USA, has cast a depressing shadow on the possibilities of electric power generation from nuclear energy. Since then the prospect of power generation from nuclear reactor has become more or less taboo! The nuclear power plants now running in EU; understandably maintain a very low-key profile. full report
