Road Show on Offshore Bidding

State-owned Petrobangla is upbeat about success of the offshore bidding round for oil and gas exploration in the Bay of Bengal as the global heavyweights have shown great interest in the two-day maiden road show. “We have received very good response from top international oil companies in the road show. We expect that a good number of them will take part in the bidding,” Petrobangla Chairman Jalal Ahmed said. full report

A friend working in Indian energy industry mailed me some useful literatures on coal mining in India. Bangladesh is now suffering from serious energy crisis. The depleting gas resource can no longer support exclusively the power generation. National grid now hardly meets 60% of peak national demand. Consequently, massive load shedding is causing serious impediment to commerce and industries. The economic development is slowing down alarmingly. full report
