People in the villages around location 3 of the country's biggest gas field Titas are living in danger due to continuous seepage of gas from underground. The seepage has been found in an area of over 3 to 4 square kilometers for the last few years but the authorities concerned have not taken any tangible action to stop it. The government should initiate a
study on the alarming seepage to find out its causes and take appropriate measures to stop it. The authorities may go for temporary shifting of houses and inhabitants from the villages around the location 3 to safe areas to avoid any incidents or hazards, until completion of remedial work and overcome the present alarming situation. If necessary,
foreign consultants with required expertise could be involved in the work. A social survey on public movable property should be carried out immediately covering the effected area. At the same time, people should be made aware of the danger of gas seepage. Immediate action is needed to avoid any disaster like Magurchhara or
Tengratila.
